Corpus Christi is the main city of the Coastal Bend, and where you will have to go to get supplies that are not RV specific and not carried by Wal-Mart. The city does have it own charms and redeeming values. There is a nice beach area on the bay, which also has a couple of treasures. The Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington are both worth a visit.
The USS Lexington was built in WWII, replacing the carrier of the same name lost early in the war. It was later upgraded for use with jets and an angle deck was added. In its later use, it was a training carrier, After the Lexington was retire, it was used for the movie Pearl Harbor, The ship is now a reminder of the price our troops paid in WWII and how they lived then and during the cold war. The original carrier Enterprise from WWII was not saved for this purpose, but at least we have the Lexington.
Corpus Christi has the same problems as most cities. Getting to good shopping means dealing with traffic. The areas pictured on this page are on the north edge of the city and there is relatively little traffic at these beach-front areas.
