North Texas

North Texas, including the panhandle, is mostly a plains state.

American spirit is strong in Texas, yet Texans also think of themselves as their own country.

Palo Duro Canyon

Not as mighty as the Grand Canyon, Palo Duro Canyon is an immense area carved out by the Red River with high, steep walls. It was once known as the primary inaccessible strong hold of the Commanche.

Natural shelters in Palo Duro Canyon. Did this one once shelter a Commanche family?

Longhorn no longer roam free, but they are still raised.

North Texas has wide open prairie with hot summers and cold winters. The Dallas-FortWorth area is best to avoid with an RV.
